Nutrition, Food Service Worker, PRN

Responsible for the preparation and service of patient and cafeteria meals. Must be able to follow standardized recipes and to use various types of kitchen equipment for food preparation. Responsible for Dietary department in the absence of dietitian or coordinator.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Prepares foods according to diets specified using standardized recipes.
2. Accurately forecasts quantities of foods to be prepared for each day.
3. Prepares substitute or special foods per patient requests as diet allows.
4. Portions and serves food according to diet specification and Diet Manual for patients.
Prepares foods for cafeteria according to standardized recipes.
5. Schedule work daily so that foods are cooked to proper degree of doneness and
temperatures at serving time.
6. Observes next days menu and begins advance preparation if needed.
Makes preparation list for late person.
7. Cooks and serves food so that is has both taste and eye appeal by using proper
cooking procedures and appropriate garnishes.
8. Able to use good judgment by assessing a situation, considering alternatives, and
choosing appropriate course of actions.
9. Cleans up all spills, ice, food, etc.
10. Follows food handling processes for the prevention of contamination and/or spoilage.
11. Covers, labels, and dates all foods prior to storage.
12. Completes all job duties and operates equipment to prevent personal injury.
13. Cleans all work areas at the end of each shift. Cleans other areas as assigned by
supervisor.
14. Records temperatures of hot foods being served at meal on the appropriate form.
15. Accurately attends cash register, completes paperwork, including credit card
balancing, and prepares bank deposits.
16. Takes charge of kitchen on week-ends, etc. when dietitian or coordinator is off.
17. Prepares attractive and tasty foods and completes all duties as assigned for special
functions.
18. Practices good handwashing.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
